Creator Agreement
Last updated: March 2026
This Creator Agreement ("Agreement") governs your participation as a creator on Scripterium — including publishing visual novels, selling games, and selling asset packs on the Marketplace. By applying for or holding a Creator account, you agree to this Agreement in addition to our Terms of Service.
1. Eligibility
To become a Creator, you must be at least 18 years old, or at least 13 years old with verified parental or guardian consent. You must have a Scripterium account in good standing, and your Creator application must be approved by our team.
Approval is at our sole discretion. We may revoke Creator status at any time for violations of this Agreement or our Terms of Service.
2. Content Ownership
You retain full ownership of the stories, characters, scripts, and original artwork you create. By publishing Content on Scripterium, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute your Content to users of the Platform.
This license ends when you remove your Content from the Platform. We will not use your Content for purposes outside of operating Scripterium without your explicit permission.
3. Revenue Share & Fees
For each sale of a paid game or asset pack, the revenue is split as follows:
- 80% to the creator
- 20% platform fee to Scripterium
Inks are the transaction currency on the Platform. The conversion rate is 1,000 Inks = $10.00 USD. Creator earnings are accumulated as an Ink balance and converted to USD at payout.
4. Payout Schedule
Payouts are processed 30 days after the end of each calendar month in which the earnings were generated. This delay exists to allow for refund disputes and fraud review.
A minimum payout threshold of $25.00 USD applies. Balances below this threshold roll over to the next month. Payouts are issued via the payment method on file (e.g., PayPal, bank transfer) and may be subject to processing fees.
Scripterium reserves the right to withhold or delay payouts pending fraud investigation or chargebacks.
5. Tax Responsibility
Creators are independent contractors, not employees of Scripterium. You are solely responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes on income earned through the Platform, including income tax and self-employment tax.
Scripterium will issue a Form 1099-K (or equivalent) to creators who meet applicable IRS reporting thresholds. You may be required to submit a completed W-9 (US) or W-8BEN (international) before your first payout.
6. Prohibited Content
In addition to the prohibitions in our Terms of Service, creators may not:
- Use AI-generated artwork or audio without clearly disclosing it in the game's description
- Include stolen, unlicensed, or plagiarized assets — all third-party content must be used with appropriate permission
- Misrepresent the content or age rating of a game
- Engage in review manipulation, fake purchases, or other artificial inflation of stats
Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, and forfeiture of unpaid balances.
7. Asset Licensing
If your game or asset pack includes third-party content (music, backgrounds, fonts, character art), you must have a license that permits commercial use and distribution on a third-party platform like Scripterium.
"Free for personal use" licenses are not sufficient for paid content. You are responsible for verifying the terms of all assets you use. Scripterium is not liable for license violations originating from your Content.
8. Termination
If your Creator account is terminated for violations of this Agreement or our Terms of Service:
- All published Content will be removed from the Platform
- Unpaid balances of $25 or more will be paid out after a 60-day fraud review period, minus any adjustments for chargebacks or refunds
- Unpaid balances below $25 are forfeited
You may voluntarily close your Creator account at any time. Voluntary closure follows the same payout schedule.
